What is DNS?

DNS (Domain Name System) translates domain names into IP addresses. It's the phone book of the internet.

How Does DNS Work?

When you type in a domain name, your browser asks DNS servers which IP address belongs to it. Your browser then connects to that IP address.

DNS Records

A Record

Points a domain to an IP address.

CNAME Record

Points a domain to another domain.

MX Record

Determines which server receives email for your domain.

TXT Record

Contains textual information, often used for verification.

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to roll out worldwide.
